The first installation in Japan of our electric equipment for port cargo handling was an electric-powered wharf container crane in 1967. Since that time down to the present, more than 1300 units of quay gantry crane (QC), 2600 units of Rubber tyred gantry crane (RTGC) and 200 units of container carrier, mainly for use in south Asia (Singapore, India and China), have been supplied and are in use.
We have also developed a hybrid system consisting of lithium ion batteries and super capacitor for energy-saving and low CO2 emissions. The system has been adopted into RTGC and container carrier and a several hundred units of this system has been supplied in domestic and overseas use.
Additionally, we started to develop the system of remote control for container crane and operation assist system because the needs for safety, efficiency and improvement of operators' work environment are increasing in the Asian port along with the amount of container units.
